Lawang Sewu merupakan sebuah gedung di Semarang, Jawa Tengah yang merupakan kantor dariNederlands-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij atau NIS. Dibangun pada tahun 1904 dan selesai pada tahun1907. Terletak di bundaran Tugu Muda yang dahulu disebut Wilhelmina Plein.
Masyarakat setempat menyebutnya Lawang Sewu (Seribu Pintu). Ini dikarenakan bangunan tersebut memiliki pintu yang banyak sekali (dalam kenyataannya pintu yang ada tidak sampai seribu, mungkin juga karena jendela bangunan ini tinggi dan lebar, masyarakat juga menganggapnya sebagai pintu).
Bangunan kuno dan megah berlantai dua ini setelah kemerdekaan dipakai sebagai kantor Jawatan Kereta Api Indonesia (DKARI) atau sekarang PT Kereta Api Indonesia. Selain itu pernah dipakai sebagai Kantor Badan Prasarana Komando Daerah Militer (Kodam IV/Diponegoro) dan Kantor Wilayah (Kanwil) Departemen Perhubungan Jawa Tengah.
Pada masa perjuangan gedung ini memiliki catatan sejarah tersendiri yaitu ketika berlangsung peristiwa Pertempuran lima hari di Semarang (14 Oktober - 19 Oktober1945) di gedung tua ini menjadi lokasi pertempuran yang hebat antara pemuda AMKA atau Angkatan Muda Kereta Api melawan Kempetai dan Kidobutai, Jepang. Maka dari itu Pemerintah Kota Semarang dengan SK Wali Kota 650/50/1992, memasukan Lawang Sewu sebagai salah satu dari 102 bangunan kuno atau bersejarah di Kota Semarang yang patut dilindungi.
Saat ini bangunan yang berusia 181 tahun tersebut kosong dan bereputasi buruk sebagai bangunan angker dan seram. Sesekali digunakan sebagai tempat pameran, di antaranya Semarang Expo dan Tourism Expo.

Taman Sari Taman Sari Yogyakarta or Yogyakarta Palace is a site of the former park or garden palace (royal garden) Yogyakarta Palace. This can be compared with the Bogor Botanical Gardens Bogor Palace gardens. This garden was built in the days of the sultna hamengku buwono I (HB I) in the years 1758-1765/9.

Although officially a royal garden, but the existing building and keeping indicates Taman Sari serves as the last bastion if the palace was attacked by the enemy. Taman Sari least complex can be divided into four sections. The first part is an artificial lake which lies to the west. The next section is a building located in the south of the artificial lake, among others Baths Umbul Binangun. The third section is Pasarean Ledok Sari and Swimming Garjitawati located in the southern part of the second. The last section is the section east of the first and second section and extends eastward to southeastern Magangan complex.
